Miami is a huge city with a multitude of things to do. One of the major reasons people flock here from all over the world is for the weather mainly. With warm balmy weather all year round, Miami is a great place to be. We are a fashion destination as well. Some of the trendiest designers in the world have their photoshoots and design studios here. Miamians are known for their love of all things fashion and that is why some of the best shopping can be found in the city.
One of the best ways to experience the best of the Miami shopping is to visit one of the great indoor / outdoor malls. One of my favorites, being Merrick Park. Peppered with high end stores like Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus, not to mention smaller boutiques and eateries, there is so much to take in here. The back drop is beautiful walkways and lush green landscaping. They have valet as well as self-parking garages. Weekdays are the best time to visit as it is not as crowded as weekends. It is located in the beautiful historic city of Coral Gables, just north of Miami.
Bal Harbor Shops is another iconic shopping mall. It has a great selection of boutiques and restaurants. It has high end jewelry and handbag stores, just to highlight a couple of standouts. Located close to Miami Beach, it is a great place to spend a day or two just browsing.
Dadeland is one of the most popular malls in South Florida. Located close to US1 and the Palmetto Expressway, it is central to the culture and history of South Florida. This mall also boasts a great selection of stores and restaurants. Macys, Nordstrom, and Neiman Marcus are among some of the many. This is a very busy mall and is open 7 days per week. Parking can be a challenge, so be sure to either carpool or valet.
If you are looking for discount shopping, South Florida has some great options. Dolphin Mall, located in SW Miami is a huge mall that has a number of discount stores. It is mostsly indoor shopping, so a great option should you experience any type of rain, which is very typical if you are visiting during the summer months. Dolphin mall is located close to Miami International Airport and is open 7 days per week. Parking is plentiful here, but is is all uncovered parking lots.
